Breathing In

This is a response to the Trifecta Challenge of 27 January 2014.  The challenge is to write 33 words on the subject of this picture.

The easy, expansive space of the coffee shop after the dark confines of the parlour.  The bright, wide, window after the heavy, tasselled drapes.  The delicious chance for the mind to freely breathe.

This is definitely the hardest challenge I have tried so far.

  1. Beautifully concise and evocative - you've painted a real scene and character in a handful of words.

  2. The result didn´t look like it was hard word, Lyssa. Lovely contrasts depicted here and your reader breathes freely with her in that last sentence. Nicely done. Thanks for sharing!

  5. This made me think of the old Virgina Slims ad: 'You've come a long way, baby!' In a good way. I love the contrast and the freely breathing mind.

  13. I got the very real sense of relief from the life in the parlour! I agree with Ted. I think you have made a much larger statement that your 33 words would, otherwise, imply. Very well done.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind comment. The sprawl of he study material seemed so expansive and that led to the contrast. I'm glad you liked it. LM x
